The Challenge

Tailors in Pakistan typically keep customer measurements in paper notebooks. Those are easy to lose, impossible to search, and useless if the shop owner isn't physically present. The tool had to work on a phone, in the language the shop owner actually speaks, and stay simple enough to replace a notebook instead of adding work.

The Solution

React on the front end with Firebase for authentication and Firestore for data, so there's no server to maintain. That suits a tool aimed at small independent shops.

Language before login

The app opens on a language gate, before the sign-in screen. Offering Urdu and Sindhi alongside English wasn't a bonus feature. An English-only interface would have shut out a large part of the intended audience, and putting the choice first means a new user never faces a form they can't read.

The layout is locked to phone width on purpose. Shop owners use this standing at a counter with a customer in front of them, not sitting at a desk.

Key Features

  • Language selection on first launch, in English, Urdu or Sindhi
  • Email and password authentication with signup and password reset
  • Customer measurement records stored in Firestore
